The mission of the Harwich Police Department is to work with the citizens of our community in a true partnership that embraces the quality of life in our town for all individuals regardless of race, color, creed, national origin, gender, sexual preference, or religious affiliation.

This will be accomplished by raising the level of public safety through professional law enforcement, lessen the incidence of crime or fear of crime in our community through prevention, providing education to our citizens that promotes voluntary compliance with the laws and regulations designed to protect our community, and promote a better understanding of the law enforcement profession.

In accomplishing these goals: "providing quality service with available resources will be our commitment, and honor with integrity our mandate."

IN THE NEWS:

HARWICH - On Monday at approximately 6 p.m., Harwich Police responded to the Hess gas station on Rt 137 for a reported unarmed robbery that had just occurred. Several witnesses, including an off-duty Barnstable Police Officer reported that a female had been robbed. The registration on the vehicle was provided to the Harwich Police and the off-duty officer was following the vehicle.

The female witness spoke with police and said that $70 was stolen from her hand while inside the Hess station. She identified the suspect to police as Cameron Fitzpatrick. She told police that she chased Mr. Fitzpatrick out of the station and attempted to reach into the vehicle to retrieve her money and ended up being dragged by the vehicle before being able to free herself.

Harwich Police stopped the suspect vehicle on Route 6 and detained 4 people. As a result of the investigation the following 3 subjects were placed under arrest:
1. Cameron Fitzpatrick, age 18 of Brewster (left) was arrested for Unarmed Robbery and an outstanding warrant.
2. Dorothy Fitzpatrick, age 43 of Eastham, (center) was placed under arrest on an outstanding warrant.
3. Tevin Taylor, age 18, of Brewster. (right) was arrested for Illegal Possession of a Class B Substance that was identified as Suboxone.

All three subjects were transported to the Harwich Police Department where they were booked. Tevin Taylor and Dorothy Fitzpatrick were released later that evening. Cameron Fitzpatrick was held overnight at the Harwich Police Department and transported to Orleans Court on the following morning.

HARWICH - The Harwich Police Department is investigating three thefts that occurred on Friday, July 23 and one that occurred on Tuesday, July 20.

At 10:40 a.m. Friday Patrol Officer Keith Kannally responded to an address on Cross Street in Harwichport for a reported theft that occurred sometime late Thursday night or early Friday morning. Someone had entered the occupied residence and stolen a purse containing $20.00 and personal checks.

At 12:14 p.m. Patrol Officer Kannally took a report of a theft of a wallet, credit card, debit card and cash. These items were stolen out of a truck that was parked on Pleasant Street. The Pleasant Street victims were landscapers that had parked their vehicles and were working nearby.

This incident is similar to one that occurred on July 20. A wallet with $200.00 was stolen out of a parked vehicle on Bank Street near Freeman Street.

Then at 1:47 p.m. Friday Patrol Officer Aram Goshgarian responded to an address on Harbor Road for another reported theft from a residence. An Apple Macbook, Blackberry phone, Sony Playstation, and games were stolen from that residence.

The Harwich Police Department would once again like to remind people to LOCK their vehicles and their house. Crime can occur ANYWHERE and locking your houses and vehicles is a deterrent to these types of thefts.
